sbiddle:manhinli:antbs:langi27: I wonder if Kordia along with Orcon could front up with the dosh, like Telecom and Vodafone you have a strong business if you can combine Voice, Data and Mobile services.
You think so?
With Orcon and their image as a fast broadband provider they may not be so interested in buying an EDGE based network.
You never know though..
2degrees are rolling out 3G next year - don't think they'll reach 5% that fast :)
To roll out 3G they first need to find the cash to pay for the licence. That's the first step they have to overcome/

Uhm nah doubt it.
2degrees already has 3G sites here and there.... the 'service' as a whole ready to market product is set to be launched early next year..
At present however NZ Comms have no legal right to use the 3G spectrum that they plan on using as it hasn't been paid for. This spectrum was reserved for Maori (at a discounted price to the price VF / Telecom paid) however somebody has to front up with money to the government before this can be used. As of a couple of weeks ago this had still not occured and until somebody front up with the $$ they will be unable to launch a 3G service using that 2100 spectrum.
2degrees: Our team is hard at work now integrating 3G into our existing EDGE network so we can provide our customers with 3G products and services throughout 2010.

TinyTim: Can't help except the licence is now in the name of Two Degrees Mobile Ltd so something must have happened.

The 3G spectrum isn't - MR's 131 and 135 for the 2x15MHz pairs of 2100Mhz spectrum are still in the name of Hautaki
sbiddle:
Two Degrees Mobile only have MR's for a 1Mhz chunk of 800 spectrum (why they swapped 800 for 900 and kept a 1Mhz chunk left me scratching my head - anybody know why?, their 900 spectrum and their 1800 spectrum.
sbiddle: Ahh thanks for clarifying that.
Two Degrees had both 800 and 900 spectrum. They traded their 800 spectrum with the MED for additional 900 spectrum in January but kept a single 1Mhz block.
