If they think I'm going to pay a TF just so they can make a new account with the correct name, they are going to be sorry.
I'm still waiting on that to be looked into..
No complaints about speed, no complaints about service. Have had very few problems. SS is the best ISP I have ever had. Then again, I've only been with two :P
Thanks everyone for the on-going Slingshot performance discussion.
I heard back from the Advertising Standards Authority who said basically that if I can provide proof of their claims of high speed, AND proof of their failure to provide that high speed then they would take a look at it.
An image of the letter is available from my website: http://www.hazen.co.nz/~adhazen6/ASA_letter.jpg
I've also thrown up an edited MP3 file of the conversation I had with them the day after I misguidedly agreed to switch. I've edited out the 15 minutes I spent on hold (although the dance music wasn't that bad!) and some personal details. ( http://www.hazen.co.nz/~adhazen6/SS_phoneCall.mp3 )
I've written the technician from the second conversation to see if he would mind if I used the recording to support the case to ASA, and I can alter our voices if needed. I have no wish to get the guy fired for telling me the truth.
You guys would be a big help if you could find some clear statements from Slingshot regarding the performance of their "All you can eat" plan (I've grabbed the small bit from their web site, but it's not very strong). And it would be great if you would let me use your experiences from these posts to support the cause. (Basically I think they should withdraw that package and refrain from advertising it in any form).
A few of those posts regarding the technology from you network engineering types would blow them away (I have no idea which way - but I'd love to include them).
So thanks once again for your contributions, perhaps our collective frustration can be put to good use.
