Hi, you say on a bronze plan, thats wholesale, bronze+ is on Orcons own DSLAMs.

If you are on a wholesale connection then it would be because you are either on an exchange that Orcon have no gear in, or if they they do have gear in that exchange but your line is via a cabinet, in which case you must use a wholesale connection.

A ULL connection is typically cheaper, because Orcon dont have to pay Telecom to provide a DSLAM port or backhaul to provision it, and often slightly better performance because again Orcon can provision there own DSLAM with cheaper(therefore larger) backhaul than what they might want to pay Telecom on a wholesale connection.

Bottom line, is if you could be put on a ULL connection then Orcon would have done that (its naturally their preference), so that would imply you are either on a exchange that has no Orcon gear, or a cabinet on an exchange that does which means you must use a wholesale connection (this is for a technical not commercial reason).

Orcon has been getting slower and slower, yesterday afternoon was getting around .89Mbps this evening getting 2.52Mbps.

Modem is connected at 18307 kbps

Getting a bit over it really

Lummie I have to agree too. Been pretty disappointed with Orcon speeds overall for the last 4 years when I joined them. Considering leaving them for another provider. Contrary to popular belief or what was popular belief Telecom users report great speeds. I'm not walking out the door just yet but the no contract with Orcon does make it easy.

I have 72 transmitted wireless errors.
Not sure if that's a good or bad result but some of them could be caused by the odd Android phone or two.

Hi, so the actual error rate is quite small, 2E-5 infact, which is irrelevant, 11dB attenuation and 15-16kb/s sync rate, while not flash is not too far out of order. Noise margin is excessive but thats good not bad, but indicates that house wiring (stub/taps) could be an issue, but nothing to worry about in this thread.

Sounds to me like its time to move ISPs, like others about I can vouch for Telecom providing very good service these days.

THought I would add that in the last week our Orcon speeds have dropped drastically. At one point after we were cabinetised (which was late last year) our speeds were actually pretty good (after being really bad for 2.5 years). Now they've slowly dropped back to being really bad.

Same here casewindow I used to be able to obtain consistant sppedtest.net results of 9 mbps or better to Auckland from Napier now I'm lucky to get a quarter of that

heads up to those thinking of going telecom I checked it out and for me atleast I'd end up paying $10 less a week for an extra 10 gig per month
