Athlonite: well looks like something has been going on within Orcon thats 3 days in a row with 10+ mbps from napier to auckland pings a bit uppy downy though?
?
but still not so good Internationaly though?
?
Daylo: /insert evil laugh here with regards to Orcons ongoing performance, and lack thereof!
*chuckle*
Daylo: Just trolling :)? I'm a convert. As in ... totally 'converted' away from Poorcon.
SteveFari: I am still getting great speeds since posting this. I'm starting to think someone form Orcon has monitored my thread and made a change to my account, or because I logged one with Orcon saying my phone line was noisy they have made changes without informing me. Too much of a coincidence I reckon.
SteveFari: Yes, and when SoundDude posted this about my connection "Hi Steve, Your connection was migrated over to a new EUBA service yesterday." and I asked how do you knwo and what does that mean? I never got a reply so I think they did something...perhaps my Orcon service fault made them fix something up. Anyway, I'm happy with my speed for the last 5 days I just hope it doesn't dip again!! Then I'll move.
cyril7: Hi, a single TCP connection on a 180ms link (time to LA) will never get much faster due to that latency, such is the problem of living in the far south pacific.
Hence normal HTTP traffic to the US and Europe will always top out around 5Mb/s, using a download manager for downloads will overcome this as they open multiple parallel connections.
