Spoke too soon.  It happened again midnight when I was working from home performing a software upgrade for a customer.  The speed was near dialup speed.  I could not even get speedtest.net to load configuration.  Now this morning, it is back to acceptable speed.

When I spoke to helpdesk the other day, they want me to try using another modem (which I don't have) or try my modem on a friend's house (which I have not arrange yet).  I don't understand why suddenly it became a modem issue when it was happily working at acceptable speed for 1 year since I joined Orcon.

This is getting to be frustrating.  Telecom's Total Home package is becoming more attractive.  For the same price, I will get 5G more data.

well I can say for a fact that over the last week I have lost nearly 3mbps of sync speed down and 200kbps of up speed for over a year now I had been syncing at 14950/965 and now it doesn't want to go any higher than what below

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12311 kbps 707 kbps
Line Attenuation 10 db 1.5 db
Noise Margin 11 db 11 db

Been getting better download speeds, but the latency in the evenings for Aion/WoW/GW/Rift is rubbish. Even when using a tunneling service.

But in a way this is good, it will make it pretty easy to convince the flatmates to change ISPs.

Can you post some details on the latency, especially IP's.

We will sort it.

I'll dig up the lowerping and battleping servers we use when I get home. No point giving you the actual game servers since all traffic is sent over an ssh tunnel to the states.

Hey @Sounddude

Can you check if my address : "between 10-20" Broadfield Street is ADSL2+ ready ? or euba or whatever the term is ?

I'm thinking of switching provider to Orcon.

I got the BestDealEver cardboard box mailer last week.

Here are my speeds on Orcon

Man, why can't I post an image?

Anyway

Down 11.77Mb/s
Up 0.73 Mb/s
Ping 43ms

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

If you got the card in the mailbox, you would probably be on LLU, which is Orcons own kit in the exchange. You should get a great experience :-)
