Hi guys,

been with slingshot for a month and half now, the first week i signed up the internet was so slow it was completely unusable. the issue was fixed after about a week and half after i signed up. so i had to go pretty much without internet for a week and half (thanks joe for helping though). speed was around 0.1 mps per second!

Since friday night the issue returned. I called slingshot and they said as it is the long weekend they are looking at a possible fix on monday... which means i pretty much have to go without internet for the entire long weekend! Great! Could any one please take a look into it for me?

Hey Slingshot,

If I log into my account and want to move over to the visibill site, Chrome is now giving this message before it lets me continue:

The site's security certificate is signed using a weak signature algorithm

I am able to get past it and use visibill normally but this never used to come up.

We switched to Slingshot last month and speeds have been very, very inconsistent but generally bearable. I'm not willing to say it's 100% Slingshot on that front, and am currently in the process of re-wiring the new house but I DO note that as of roughly 9:00pm our internet has dropped to completely unusable speeds.

According to my router we are getting the following line speeds (250gb plan):

Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps):980Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps):5867

Any word on if this is an isolated thing or something that anyone else is experiencing?

It would be fair to say for us, Slingshot has been very fast lately.
On the unlimited plan, just did a speed test 12.6Mbps down and 1.6 Mbps up, line speed is 15.8 Mbps
So no problem here.

The acid test for Slingshot at the moment seems to be doing speedtests to Sydney (Internode server) and LA (Dreamhost server) during the evening.
These technically should be the closest points to either side of the SX cable (at least, I think), so should have the least amount of extra hops between the international speedtest server and the SX cable.

During the evening, I can't seem to get any more than 1.5Mbps down from either.
During the day I can max my line speed to the Sydney server at around 15Mbps down, and I get a relatively healthy 8Mbps down from LA.
For comparison, doing a speedtest to a local Auckland server during the evening I can still get full line speed of ~15Mbps down.

The SX cable is reportedly nowhere near capacity, so it is essentially just a lack of international bandwidth capacity on Slingshot's behalf.

Slingshot! please, please, please stop throttling us and give us some decent international speeds.
After all, I'm on the 100GB plan, not the unlimited plan.
That's all I ask.

Thanks.

Its a bit more complex then that, No ISP in NZ provides 1:1 bandwidth at residential level.

Hey all!

Would just like to tell you my story with Slingshot.  I moved apartments in Feb.  Moving from Orcon to Slingshot as Orcon couldn't beat Slingshots deal.  With Orcon my Sync rate was something like 22Mbit/s and I could download at 2.3MB/s  which was AWESOME :D

Then I moved.. Joined Slingshot and was a little disappointed when my sync dropped down to 13Mbit/s.

I was on the 2nd floor of my apartment building, and moved up to the 8th floor.  Not much of a distance..

And I know its a different pair in the exchange and all..

I have requested a port change but no luck there..

Is there anything I can do ?

Cheers

I'm currently getting like 0.9 from Sydney and 0.7 from LA (down)

hi slingshot,

I recently signed up from telstraclear speed testing 1.5mbps.
now on slingshot I'm speed testing 300kbps.

what details do you need from me to reset my net, change port etc?

my current property did have a problem originally with tesltraclear, the line from cabinet to house there was a wiring problem so a technician came out and fixed it. after the fix I was still humming alone nicely though, till I changed to slingshot.

what do you need from me?

thanks

Slingshot

ive also noticed a big massive drop in speeds. When i watch youtube, it streams fine with 720p. But when i went to rip the video off it, it slags of at 100kb/s. Same goes for patches to some games too.
