Hi Shachou,

I would suggest calling Orcon to confirm everything is 100% cancelled and there is no line going into your house, if there still is a line, this is okay too.

Following this, private message me your account number if you have it, otherwise cellphone number, email address, landline number.

It will most likely be held up due to incorrect information, if Orcon has cancelled you then we need to connect you as a new line and we may have requested a transfer of services.

Thanks,
Ben

DNS outage and general weirdness for the past hour or so. Nothing resolves using nslookup with the server set to 202.180.64.10 or 11, just times out. If I set the server to Googles 8.8.8.8 it also times out but ping to 8.8.8.8 is ok??? The opendns server 208.67.222.222 worked for 10mins but now it times out, can still ping it though.
Whatever I do ping however, the Slingshot dns servers, my Slingshot gateway, the opendns and google dns servers, will drop at least 10% of packets.

Have also had an issue with DNS for about the past 7 hours now. Router says its connected but when loading sites or troubleshooting network it says DNS is not responding. Have tried setting the DNS Server to both 202.180.64.10 and 11 , neither worked. :(

Having problems in Nelson. Started Easter weekend. Thought it may of just been more people online.

What seems to be happening is getting dissconected a lot. Whe it reconnects it syncs at 4-6 mbit. If I restart the modem it syncs at 8-10 mbit but in 2-3 min it reconnects at 4-6 again.

Hi,

Sounds like a modem issue to me but will need to carry out further troubleshooting first.

Can you please PM me your account details and i'll get in touch following this.

Thanks,
Ben

Hi guys, i'm experiencing major speed hit after 11pm at night at the moment. for international traffic only. I was downloading the lastest hero of newerth client from their server and i was doing only 200kb/s and my line rate is looking real good at around 11mps. did slingshot speed tests looks ok too, although international is only doing 4mps. I also tried other servers like an ubuntu server in uk... still doing 200kb/s!!!! could someone please help?

Cheers

Hi Lingzi,

This sounds very likely to be outside of our network to me.

If the SS speedtest is still showing good results then the connection to our core is ok.

is it really 200kb/s? or 200KB/s because i would expect it to be about 200KB/s.

Cheers,
Joe.

Hi Joe, please excuse the lack of caps... yeah was 200KB/s to 250KB/s. National DL is fine, I tried with an ubuntu ISO from nz server. it was decent at about 1000KB/s (at the same time hero of newerth client was also dling) but it just seems International is maxed out at around 250KB/s as I tested DLing both Hero of newerth client and an ubuntu ISO from uk server, having both dl going at the same time will give a combined speed of about 250KB/s. When you combine national and international i can get to full line rate most of the time. but international seem low.

I would say this is fairly common for internationl DL, if national is at 1000KB/s then there is not going to be anything we can do to make it any better at this stage.

Cheers,
Joe.

During peek times I can download nationally at full line rates 1.6mbps however International sites are slower around 200 - 300kbps I would say this is due to peak loading times. I would never expect line rates from international sites, saying that I would not expect anything less then 100kbps.
