yea, i've been trying that... its not looking good, its just not there, on a freeview approved set top box and a hauppauge dvb-s tv tuner card, both cant see it...

seems odd as some people get it, others dont.

Currently Freeview NZ are building the EPG data for Choice TV, at the moment no EPG data is transmitted which means that the Freeview boxes do not recognise this yet.

Other ways you might get it is to turn Network scan <b> Off </b> and do a blind/Manuel scan if possible

yea, i managed to pick it up on a non-branded set top box, a satmax plus, my freeview box doesnt get it and oddly my hauppauge nova-s plus tv tuner card doesnt pick it up either.

Good things take time; they're only guilty of over promising and under delivering on time frames. Clearly work is under way.

Good to see a fairly valid new channel coming on line, rather than another +1 cop out variant and the permanent removal of the likes of Kidzone TVNZ6 or TVNZ7.

I took a squizz at Choice earlier today - something about hippos. What was most evident was that it was 4:3. Anyone know if that will be the norm for the service, or was that just the particular content?

I tried on my win7 media center and no luck. Started from scratch and zilch. However I did find something interesting. TVNZ7 is showing nothing. It found tv1 plus 1. So I think Windows 7 media center may also pick it from the epg broadcasting and as choice doesnt have that yet it is not picking it up

I'm not saying it's amazing, but it' appears to have a bit of content.
Just saying it's a channel that might have something I'd consider looking at.

Things the likes of my parents could enjoy, where you're interested in the content and aren't too critical of the picture quality/aspect ratio etc. Remember most people 'don't like the black lines' and are happy to crop/stretch it to buggery anyway.

im pretty sure media center can't pick it up as its an unknown channel with no guide data. I used ProgDVB and it picks it up as does DVB Dream, So at the moment I just jump out of media center and into DVB Dream to watch it.

the picture quality seems good and their aspect ratio is fine, I get full screen on 16x9 1080p TV with no issues.

the reports of it being 4x3 are probably just because of 4x3 shows on it, not their broadcast.

here is hoping that it goes into media center once they get the guide going next week

still can't scan on a freeview branded box either but scans on a non freeview set top box.

I don't know whether this will help with WMC, but on my Vu+, the new channel shows up as:

12456H SID 0x795.

Now I've added that to my Favourites, it shows up in the position I want it. I could rename it to Choice TV using Dreambox Edit, but can't be bothered so will wait until it shows up properly in the EPG. As someone else mentioned, it's a 16:9 channel with 720x576 resolution, and quality appears better than the rubbish Sky channels like Box etc.

I've found you can manually add it to a Freeview approved set top box that won't pick it up even with a blind scan by adding the channel manually.

The info you need is

Transponder: 12456
22500
Horizontal
3/4

Video Pid: 0514
Audio Pid: 0652
PCR: 0514

I added ChoiceTV into my dodgy Warehouse set top box and its working fine.

Re aspect ratio - thanks - it had to be either the service or the content - good that it is not the service. I may take a look from time to time to see if the EPG has populated, but I suspect it'll be slim pickings for me. I already saw "Danger 5" on SBS, and nothing else in the advertised line-up appeals much, if at all. Still, I'll rank it above Cue in my pathetically short list of services I even bother to monitor.

Each to their own I guess, but I love the channel's line up... Heaps of good Cooking shows and Documentaries, only thing it's missing is News and it would be my replacement for TVNZ7. If they put the TVNZ new at 8 on there I would be very happy.

Other than that, it's content is excellent.

I haven't seen any advertising for it... such a shame as its a decent channel, maybe once they get the satellite thing going properly there will be some ads somewhere.... i'm sure they would get a decent viewer base once they get noticed...

Thanks for that. It was a bit tricky to add to the Hyundai AH-3110. Nothing showed up on a scan. I had to export the channel list, edit with with text editor and import the file.
