Even if you do that I don't know if there is a hard drive recorder on the market that will record in high definition - is there???

Regardless of the grammar, it does raise a good point. 

There's all the push to ensure there's no HD output over component video but who knows of any recorder that can take an HDMI digital or even a component analogue input?!  Best I know of really is S-video input on say HDD or DVD recorder units.  Cripes we can't even seem to develop a set top box with a hard drive to record for your own personal use.  It's like that stupid downloading movies is a crime clip that only plays on legitimate copies, real smart.

To be fair though, I'm picking the requirements are different to encode and store video files are a bit different to just decoding our DVB-T signal, so this may take a while.  I don't think there is an approved hard drive set top box for the freeview sat service yet either, and that's been in a while.  Should arrive about the same time we get Prime on freeview too!
