To get a practical IT job (systems management, networks etc) you'd want to do a Polytech-like course. My friend is doing a Cisco course currently under a Bachelor of IT at Otago Polytech. Cisco qualifications are vastly recognised.

Computer Science Uni degrees for more theoretical computing like website development, coding, software development etc.
IT is more skill based, if you get what I mean, Comp Sci being more theory/math based.
