My S3 is on 4.2.2 and has no issues that I can see with bluetooth although I was only connecting to a handsfree kit.

ajobbins:
Nutta666: I tried some of the 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 custom roms and had all sorts of bluetooth issues due to the new BT stack Google has thoughtfully introduced since 4.2.

I find Bluetooth on my official 4.1.2 unreliable at times anyway. It often doesn't pair, and I have to either cycles BT on the phone, or reboot it entirely for it to work. Same across the 3 or 4 Bluetooth devices I connect with so it's definitely the phone not the devices.

Bluetooth is terrible on the S3 (and on a number of other Android handsets). I gave up on my Jabra speakerphone in the car and just use the headphones now.

I know a few other people with in car setups including a couple with high end Parrot installs that are all unusable.

The Bluetooth in my Toyota Hilux works perfectly everytime. Ditto the BT to my HS3000 and my Foxit? Maybe there are some faulty BT radios out there? I do run a custom ROM and have done so since about day 5 of owning the S3.

I have a Note II (basically a bigger S3) and it has no problems with BT. Works every time, I switch between being on the phone to the headset with ease.

Standard Stock ROM though.

I had all sorts of trouble with BT in earlier S3 ROMs, it would reliably crash the phone about 35 minutes after starting playback (from my place, this means the phone would crash as I approached Auckland Airport, every time).

In recent months something has fixed it up and I've had no further troubles, either on the Sony car stereo or on a set of Motorola BT headphones. Maybe give it another try?

Is there known issues with S3 and Bluetooth?

I use an application Bria Counterpath X-Lite for SIP calling for work. I am having to use my S2 to use my Bluetooth headset with it. As soon as I attempt to try this on my S3, no one can hear me.

My S3 normal calling with Bluetooth headset was really bad in terms of quality. Then came a OS update and that fixed it. Since trying the SIP calling application, it just doesn't work anymore. Bluetooth is on, pairing is successful, just doesn't work. Go back to my S2.. It's fine and dandy!
