hmm.. Haven't got mine yet. Tried a System update (under 'about phone') and no joy. Will just keep waiting.

A few changes... particularly Market and a few extra settings including "Speech synthesis". New YouTube App and Google Maps App. No complaints from me :)

I've seen a couple of tweets this evening from people receiving the Android 1.6 update. One in Auckland (@talios) and one in the UK (@joshstevens1989).

zocster:
natedog: What are the changes with this upgrade?

This is what to expect oops and this.

and of course, the Sim tools, as at the moment on prepay my wife has to ring 777 to find balance etc. There is no 'my vodafone' stuff that all other phone has even windows phone.

The Sim tools came out with cupcake (1.5) months ago.

I still don't appear to have access to the my vodafone sim menu, unless anyone can point me in the correct direction?

It (Sim Toolkit) should be in your main application list next to settings. The only thing that should be stopping this showing is if you don't have the vodafone android OTA update.

I only know this because I brought my G1 from Canada and didn't have those either. Once I applied the UK 1.3 update the phone automatically prompted me to update to 1.5 OTA and voila.

Hmm, this was discussed here also, no SIM Toolkit.

I have an HTC Magic bought from Vodafone NZ on July 23rd. It got the Donut / v1.6 upgrade 2 days ago....on Saturday, 24th October. I don't see any SIM toolkit anywhere. I looked in the main App list (Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications). I can import names from my SIM via Contacts.....is that is what is being talked about? If its anything else, I don't have it.

But I got my update just fine. SCREENSHOT

hey linuxluver, do you know if donut can be pushed via wifi, or is it only via mobile data, ... hmm with simtoolkit it is the bit where every mobile should have to 'check balance' etc even top up (my wife's using prepay).

When is your billing roll-over date? I got my upgrade on the Saturday before roll-over (today) on my account. That would have been late Friday in the UK or US.

My wife's on prepay, and have now turned off data for a while until we can work out how she lost $10.00 in a matter of days, with only 2g and no background data enabled, neither is sync. hmm.

Got my update, had to do a trick though!

Go to the homescreen.
Tap on Dialer - to open the dialer screen.
From the dialer type *#*#checkin#*#* (that is *#*#2432546#*#*)
After a few seconds, you will receive an alert notification, accessible from the homescreen window shade "checkin result success".
Return to the homescreen.
Press the Menu key.
Select Settings.
Scroll down, and select About phone.
Select System updates.
If an update is available, you should see the update downloading.
When the download is complete, you will be prompted to Install (now or later)

Got it pushed over wifi ;)
