Can anyone explain me the usage of 4 satellite signal inputs in the MYSKYHDi decoder?? If i understood it right, the input1  supplies the power to the other input ports... but i couldn't see the usage of other input ports... Please explain..

When (not if) one tuner fails it switches over to the next for redundancy? (Rhetorical sarcastic question.)

Hi, these products are sold all over the world, in Europe for example there are high and low band options plus both polarities, so 4 LNB feeds are required.

Internally there is a 4x4 multi switch directly connected to those 4 inputs, on the otherside of that is 4 actual tuners, this means by software control any of the tuners can access LNB feeds on any of the 4 inputs.

In NZ Sky only have services on one band sector at one orbit location on one polarity, hence only one LNB feed is needed, and obviously the multi switch is routing that single LNB feed to all the tuners.

thankx cyril for the info...  so do you mean that by default, the LNB feed can be accessed to any of the port, which is later changed by software control to any particular tuner???

I am asking this because, if i connect the feed to other inputs except the 1st input port, with no signal, LED is seen RED.

The firmware in the MySky is configured to only look at LNB1, so the multiway switch has all tuners pointing to LNB1, so connecting anything to the others wont do anything. As I say for SkyNZ, there is only one feed required, and that is to be connected to LNB1 input all others do nothing.

I had a splitter and it going to 2 ports of the mysky HDi because of an old normal mysky install that was here and the guy just plugged both in so I kept it as it was.

Anyway, if I have signal into port 2 but not port 1, everything seems to work ok but its right on the knifeedge signal wise - one or 2 red blocks in the signal meter and dropping out at the slightest sign of rain.

I thought I was gonna have to get a tech out after I moved it till I worked out I had stuck the wires into #2 and #3 by mistake when I moved the mysky into a cabinet. oops.
