so ive just moved house,new house doesn't have a sky dish,so i brought a 60cm dish 11300 Ku band LNBF,hooked it up ,not sure if i have the satellite is aligned properly cause the its still saying signal level 30 (rain fade )what are some good tips to get the dish aligned right?? i do have a satellite finder,maybe im picking up another satellite or doing it wrong (i am peaking the signal though)
also what settings do i need to adjust on the sky decoder?? ive have it set up on single LNB (11300 mhz) but what satellite do i choose?? there are a few D1 satellites. any help would be great thanks.

Why don't you ring Sky, they will install a dish for you.
That's what you pay them for.

Using a satellite meter should be enough to find the d1 satellite. It's possible that you have optimized the dish on d2. It is also strong level. If you are on d2 you need to tilt up a few degrees and pan the dish to the east by a few degrees too.

Seriously though, it's not easy to hit a satellite and get skew right. Maybe bite that bullet and pay sky for an expert for the reinstall.

I'd persist. You'll get there if you keep trying.

The question begs to be asked, where did the sky decoder you mention you are working with come from.

If it was pre-existing, it would have had one on the roof. If it was moved, and you notify them they go out of their way to ensure there is one on the new location.

If you are a subscriber, and have signed up. The install fee covers the initial install.

The install fee for another, should basically be $0 if not done by any shadey means. (or at least very small to get one up again)

Yep, they charge stuff all to set a new one up. I think $49, which if you count dish, cable, LNB and expertise, is really bl**dy cheap!

If you are a sky subscriber then you'll have to tell them you've move location anyway. If there is no Dish at the new location they should install one for free. That's what you're paying them for.
Contact Sky to get sorted.

Edit:
And if you're not a sky subscriber then you won't have an active card and won't decode anything.
