Morning all, I've never used this before and am by no means very tech savvy so please mind my simple-ness. We purchased a Panasonic smart tv last night and we got it home and tried to connect it all up only to encounter a few things that has me stumped. In our old tv, which is only 4 years old mind you, it has a few different areas for those red,white and yellow cables to go and with the new tv it has only one area, we have put the hdmi cable from the sky mysky box to the outlet on the tv butto no avail. It keeps auto tuning and comming back saying no channels found. What do you think I'm doing wrong? Any help would be highly appreciated and thank you for your time.

If you have the box connected via HDMI you shouldn't be anywhere near the TV tuner - you should just be selecting the AV input that corresponds to the HDMI input.

The TV is trying to tune in the Freeview channels. Do you have a Uhf aerial available?

We have a couple of Ariel cables but they don't fit into the the plug part on back of tv.

You're in danger of doubling your headaches, i.e.
problem 1: how do I see my MySKY?
problem 2: how do I connect my UHF aerial so that the digital tuner in the TV can see Freeview?

As getting the MySKY going will give you all the main FTAs and was your original goal you should probably try to fix that first. As sbiddle said, you're in "digital TV" mode and you need to get out of that to viewing your HDMI input from your MySKY. This should be as simple as reading the label on the HDMI you've plugged into (e.g. "HDMI 2"), finding and pressing the "input select" (or similar label, maybe a square with an arrow pointing into it) button on the remote control, and selecting the right value on the menu that comes up.

On my panasonic tv on the remote there is an AV button which lets your sift through all the inputs, with mysky plugged in a turned on, just keep pressing av until you get a picture, it will be HDMI x, x corresponding to the hdmi port number

This is just my thoughts.

On many TV remotes/TV Sets there is an ability to choose the 'source' of your signal. Each device connected to the TV is considered a 'source'.

If you connect an HDMI cable from your sky box to the TV, take a look at the label next to where it plugs in to the TV. It may say something like HDMI 1. When you select the 'source' on the remote - choose HDMI 1 and you should see your sky pictures. No need to do any tuning for this device.

The same applies for normal Television, however in this case you do require a TV aerial to be plugged in to the back of the TV. If the cable coming out of your wall from your aerial has a screw thread on the end, you may need an adaptor to plug it into the TV areal socket. Once this connection is done, you can then use the TV menu to tune in the digital TV channels (Freeview), and once done, change 'source' to the TV channel.

The same technique will apply (as connecting a sky box) if you connect a modern DVD player or Hard Drive recorder.

This is correct, however, if you 'Aerial' cables have the screw plug on the end of them, check that they aren't actually the signal cables from your Sky satellite.

What should have been asked/answered is whether or not you actually have a UHF aerial. If not, you can bypass the tuning on the TV (as you will get all the channels through MySky anyway.

Just use your TV remote to select the correct HDMI input. Don't try and find the Sky box using the TV Tuners. The tuner will only tune to anything plugged into the Antenna socket (like a UHF antenna).
Also read your TV manual which will tell you how to connect and select various inputs.
