Anyone know if this is possible at all ?

House has Sky currently installed in the host lounge, we would like to put a second decoder in the guest lounge and have that displayed on the guest lounge TV.

Sky guy has come out to site and said he can't install a multi-room system, becuase:

* no cavity in the roof of guest lounge
* wires outside will look ugly
* can't drill thru the stone of the house

The existing Sat feed comes in to a laundry store room and hit's a 3 way splitter - I know through trial & error that the middle feed goes to host lounge, but have no idea where the other 2 feeds go to. Any suggestions on tracing that ?

So question is, how would you do it ? Can you send a raw signal via some wireless device from the store-room to the guest lounge decoder ? or should we just get a 2nd dish installed and cable directly from that to the guest lounge (drill the bloody stone).

Your thoughts ?

Not possible to send the dish signal wirelessly anywhere. You could get a second dish but obviously you have nowhere to run the cable.
If there are two other feeds from the splitter then they must go somewhere.
Are there outlets in the Guest Lounge? If so try plugging in you current Sky box and see if it works. Try any other outlets in the house you can find. If the box works you've found the dish outlets.
Easiest option may be to put second decoder in the Host Lounge or by the splitter and use a Video Sender to send the signal to the other room. You'd nead an infra red extender setup to operate the remote though.

There are no Aerial points currently within the guest lounge.

The current setup has a decoded sky feed from the Host lounge, injected back to the guest bedroom TV's. What ever is being watched on the host lounge PC is viewable in the guest bedrooms.

Intention is to put individual freeview boxes in each of the guest bed rooms, have the boxes, just waiting on sparky to sort out the signal splitting & amplification bits.

Gut feel is that it's going to have to be a 2nd dish (on hosts accom) and drill the wall.

I'm confused. First you are talking about a guest lounge and now about guest lounge and bedrooms.
How are you injecting the feed to guest bedrooms? What are the TVs plugged into or do you only have a TV in the guest lounge at the moment? How many other TVs and boxes are we talking about?
If its via rf then presumably its possible to use a reverse splitter to combine the satellite and rf feed to the guest rooms then split them off to TV and Decoder in each room.

Sorry to clarify.

Currently:
1) Sky Feed In to Host Lounge > Sky Decoder > Some Modulator thing (Injector) > Coax > Guest Bed Rooms (x4) on Channel 24. Guests watch whatever the host is watching.
2) No TV or Sky in guest lounge.

Proposed Changes
1) Sky Feed In to Host Lounge > Sky Decoder > Host TV Only
2) Secondary Sky Feed In to Guest Lounge > Sky Decoder > Guest Lounge TV Only
3) Sat Feed (Freeview) > Guest Bedrooms (local Freeview decoder)

Prior to the 'switch to digital' the TV's in the guest bedrooms (x 4) got local TV (1,2,3, etc) and the decoded Sky feed from the Host lounge. With the switch off, the TV's in the bedrooms are now only able to see the decoded Sky signal from the host lounge TV.

No UHF Freeview coverage available on North Island Central Plateau, so only option is Terrestrial/Sat Freeview.

OK. Understood now. As I said before, it's possible using a splitter to combine the sky signal and inject into the co-ax to the other rooms then split it off again to TV and STB. Just need to source the correct splitters or a distribution box. There has been links to suitable setup in earlier threads in the last few months but you would need to search for them. Perhaps somebody can remember the links to the suitable gear. Any reputable installer or tech should no how to do it.
