I am moving my multi room into my granny flat (so grey area if sky will be ok with it I pay one rates so I think it's fine but not the reason I'm writing this) up until now it has only had free view. When I plug it in it comes up with no signal after the updating listing goes away. There is only one dish, it does have separate phone. My understanding is that if free view works so should sky. Is this not the case? Any ideas on why it's not working and how to make it work. The sky works in the bedroom in main part of house and free view works fine in granny flat.

Satellites can have different settings on them, there are usually two different settings that are common.

you should see a number
Either 10750 or 11300
Take note of which one. This will be needed should you ever need to put it back inside.
If you have 10750 in already, put 11300 and vise versa.

Is the Granny Flat and the main house on the same dish?
If so, you shouldn't need to change the frequency on the decoder (assuming it works in the main house).

Also, the freeview in the Granny flat - are you sure it is satellite, not UHF? What is the model of the freeview box in the Granny Flat?

Im 99% sure its one dish I will double check when I get home from work. I live in Queenstown so as far as I know the only way to get tv down here now is via dish. will let you know how I get on thanks for your help

Didn't think of that. When I think of granny flat I think of separate building on same property

I see on the pdf that it says (not for MySky decoders) its a my sky which I am puting in there, does this mean that this isn't the problem or its just not the fix to the problem?

Neither, it means that Sky lock you out of changing any settings in a mySky unless you know how.

If mySky then the most likely thing you've done is connected cable to wrong LNB input.

If separate dish could still be settings, or if the same dish could be (unlikely) that there is a splitter somewhere and the mysky has lnb power off and is on the power pass side of the splitter.

Hate satellite some days... so much more to go wrong than just a UHF aerial and cable run ;)

MySky just has a different way to change the LNB settings (if you REALLY do need to). Make sure its in the input 1 on the MySky (my parents put it in 2 by mistake and lost a few channels and never knew why)

turns out i have 2 dishes next to each other.
I was thinking if i find out which dish works and run a splitter from this dish to the granny flat it should fix my problem?
I think that would make it an easy fix
or is that to simple?

Well yes you could split one of them, but seems like extra work unless you're keen on doing it ;) You're just changing the LNB's frequency that the decoder is set to. This link has the MySky instructions, didn't expect you to be moving in a MySky unit my bad.

Why don't you try the Freeview box in the room where you unplugged the Sky multiroom box? If it doesn't work then it will definitely be the LNB frequency is different for each of the two dishes.
Also check the LNB frequency in the Freeview box menu.

2 dishes side by side is a bit silly when you could have a 4 or 8 port lnb on a single dish, but that doesn't really help in the short term. As has been suggested just change the frequency to 11300 or 10750.
