Smithy100: As an Apple TV3/iPad viewer (well, until recently), should I consider getting a Chromecast to use LB via phone/laptop?
Watching telly on the iPad mini really isn't cutting it lol.
I'm trying to advise my father of the best Lightbox setup to use. He has a Samsung Galaxy S Mini phone, a Panasonic TV (no Lightbox app), and a Macbook Pro. Based on this, the Chromecast seems like a pretty good setup on the surface, but are there any usability quirks that us technically inclined folks tend to gloss over?

KieranfromLightbox:
The only potentially tricky bit is setup - however, by downloading the Chromecast app for Android he'll be stepped through the setup process. They also have excellent online support pages: https://support.google.com/chromecast/?hl=en#topic=2994244

Lightbox works OK with Chromecast ex the app downloaded for my mobile phone, but it seems to lack the control you can get if you use a remote control with a dedicated app. For example, with my Panasonic DMR-PWT550GZ there are dedicated apps for Netflix and Quickflix, but not one for Lightbox. I wonder why this should be the case? With Netflix on the Panasonic 550GZ, you can use the remote control to fast forward and rewind video etc.
I have been told that the new Sony Android TVs don't come loaded with a Lightbox app, even though Netflix and Quickfix are included. So, even with the latest UHD Sony TVs, you don't get an app for Lightbox and I was told that you can't download a Lightbox app to the TV either. Is that correct?
However, it does look like many of the latest Samsung TVs come with a Lightbox app, per this page:
http://www.samsung.com/nz/apps/
However, it also says on the Samsung site that:
"The Lightbox App is available on all 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 (excluding JS9500/JS9000/JS8000) Smart TV and Smart AV devices."
http://www.samsung.com/nz/lightbox/
It's a pity that it's not on the JS9500/JS9000/JS8000, are there any plans to do this?
Regards
Fred
