First off, I'll say my Neon subscription is worth every dollar I have spent on it - but not so sure I'll say that once the free component wears off...

I can't make Neon work on Linux 15.10 with *either* Chrome 46.0.2490.86 (Flash 19.0.0.245) or Firefox (41.02) (Flash 11.2.202.548). Various cases of the circles going around but no audio or video...

Is there some more detailed Flash testing I could do that might point me in the right direction?

And in the process of trying to fix it, checking out other devices, I've filled up my five devices so must wait a month to remove one.  (And, it seems that using both Chrome and Firefox on the same PC constitutes two different 'devices' for their counting...)

Don't know if this is relevant but I have had real problems with Flash and Chrome on Windows. I don't understand why any video site that wants to be taken seriously still insists on using it. That said, I found that my problems had to do with the plugin 'upgrade' to Flash PPAPI in versions 18/19. The only way I could get Flash to work properly with some sites was to manually install an older version 18, enable NPAPI in the Flags setting, and disable the PPAPI Flash player portion after installation. I also had to prevent my Chrome-based browser from updating because newer versions don't support NPAPI. Google seems to have a blind spot about this and they either refuse to accept that there is a problem, or they blame it on the sites, which isn't exactly helpful.

I'm not that happy with thinking of using NPAPI.  IMHO that is creating security risks that I don't want to encourage.  But if nothing works, I may try it, just to identify/eliminate it as an approach...

Flash badly needs to be binned. As long as sites we want to view don't get that all we can do is try workarounds.

The only way I could get linux was working was pipelight flash with firefox

I gave up though now and just use a chromecast

Has the HBO content which is nice but seems over priced and the flash player is nasty

From Neon Support:

Hello Nick

Thanks for getting in touch.

Just letting you know that we have removed all the devices you have registered with NEON and I am afraid we do not support Linux at this stage.

Cheers!

Sazeel

Team NEON
