I'm beginning to wonder if Sky will ever fix the extreme sluggishness of the MySky box since the software upgrades earlier this year? It's still like swimming through treacle. Frequently I make mistakes because I plough on while the software catches up. Sky may crow about its new software, but it's just not very useable. It's like getting a car with the latest in bells and whistles, and finding it takes two minutes to accelerate to 50kph.

I imagine there is a problem with slow processing inside the MySky box. In that case, they shouldn't have tried to do so much with the new software, but I guess they will be reluctant to make it less of a swiss army knife. I have a horrible feeling that the problem cannot be fixed without distributing new hardware.

If there was a halfway decent alternative to MySky HDI, I'd be off like a shot.

Ring Sky and request a decoder swap as some are working reasonably well, but there are a few that are very sluggish

Get it replaced & test new unit while tech is still there (multiple recordings at once etc) - you'll know when you've got a good one

I requested a replacement box after the software update as the performance was so bad. I timed button presses taking 6 seconds to react. Sometimes it is terrible and sometimes it's just sluggish.
SKY declined to replace the box unless I paid $50. I was pretty pissed off, spending over $1100 a year to hear that.
My standard digital decoder upstairs was replaced with a new model that works so much better than my mySKY. Very unsatisfactory. Füćk em.

Correction... $1497 per year. (MySKY+, Sport, multi room with second standard decoder).

Do they look the same externally?  I thought they all come with the same specs inside.

Yeah all look the same - not sure on internal specs but i'd say there is likely something different due to the performance (processor im guessing)

Just keep complaining until you get one that works well = I'd tell the phone rep that it is completely non-responsive if they refuse to send someone without payment, as you are already paying for a service that is not working as advertised

Don't tell them that on the phone then, wait till the tech turns up to replace it

"Oh, its started working again this morning, however it is very slow"

They will replace anyway while they are there
