Hi All, Looking for some advice here, Ive wired up an HDMI extender over cat6, so my MySky box will go into another bedroom.

Now everything seems to be functioning well enough, I've terminated the Cat6 cables correctly (T568B, and checked), and the IR function is working also, which tells me that the connection is there. but I've got no picture on the TV.

Going from a Mysky box to Samsung TV (UA40J5500), via an HDMI extender over cat6 (LKV372A) over a distance of around 20m

I don't know if its an issue with HDCP? (I've read that it may be that) I'm stumped. Ive also tried other devices as well (PS4, Xbox 360 and my laptop) but with no luck...

Any help/advice would be appreciated

Have you got anything else HDMI you can test (instead of the MySky?)

Ive tried it on my PS4, and my Xbox, as well as a laptop... no signal for any of them...

Perhaps try it with an off the shelf cat6 patch cable, just to eliminate that as one possible issue?

I might try that, although the cat6 cable I have does work, as ive used it to connect the TV to the Internet... which tells me its not that.

If it is indeed an HDCP issue, one of the cheap HDMI splitters that also strips HDCP should solve the problem? There are a few listed on Amazon.

Have you tried it using games output from your console which (from memory) shouldn't have HDCP applied, which might at least eliminate HDCP as the culprit?

That was my next test though

While it may have given you an internet connection, that would work with only 2 pairs correctly crimped, the HDMI extender will need all 4 pairs working.

The laptop doesn't have HDCP so if that didn't work then something is wrong with either the cable or the extenders.

You got the extenders in the correct locations? i.e. the transmitter connected to the source and the received connected to the TV?

Power connected to both?

thats a point (re internet connection) I did test the RJ45 connectors when I crimped them, and all were working...

Everything is in the right place (RX and TX where they should be). Im a little baffled here, I am starting to suspect that the extenders may be the issue here...

try a shorter cat 6 cable

The extender "supports" 60m transmission... im only using between 15-20... that shouldnt be the issue

One pair I put in for a friend were really particular about having the cat6 cable in place before they were powered up at all, and as they would take a little power from the HDMI would need that unplugged at both ends as well as the AC adapters if you pulled the cat6 out.

Strip it back to basics:

Put source/s right next to screen/s

Use known good, short UTP/HDMI cables to test

test variations of sources / screen/s & HDMI ports

You can also try hitting the reset button on the source HDMI extender once everything is powered etc, this is known to fix some issues. Ive also heard sometimes these *might* not like jumping through patching.. i.e want a striaght through cable.

I have had an issues with these where the IR would not work reliably (but video was fine) in my case I bought a sep. IR blaster. A mobile was helpful in troubleshooting that issue (watching the IT signal via mobile screen)

Well now im truly stumped. so heres an update.

Have now tried the following

1 - Used a proven cable - shorter - Did not work

2 - Plugged HDMI from skybox to TV (took TV to office to do) - WORKED

2 - Taken unit back to the store who tried it and it WORKED

3 - tried different HDMI Cables - Did not work.

Im convinced now that its an issue with the TV, that it is just not receiving the signal from the receiver box. (Note that signal is fine between the sender and receiver)

This is the message on the TV (Its a Samsung 40" Full HD Flat Smart TV J5500 Series 5) does anyone know of any issues with this model?

(2) Press source on your remote control to select the connected source device

Could be a faulty power adapter. I have had this problem before and once I replaced the power adapter it worked fine.
