Hi there, how am I best to broadcast sky go on to an exterior tv? Has anyone done this using an Apple TV or Chromecast?

As far as I'm aware, Sky go does not support Chromecast or ATV.

If you want it on a bigger screen then HDMI from laptop to TV works.

Yes I have cast Skygo to my Chromecast and also inbuilt Chromecasts in both my Xiaomi Mibox and also Nvidia Shield - via Chrome Desktop.

Have also had success with casting from my Teclast tablet to Chromecast devices. ( My S8 - not so much.)

So yes it can be done depending on your set-up/gear.

The OP said it doesn't chromecast but you say it does?

Is this your SkyGo?

Instead of SkyGo, you can use your Sky subscription on your telly. Just connect the SkyBox to your telly....

You can chromecast but using a chrome browser . I’m sure I’ve done it once. But the quality was really bad.

They don’t want you doing this as to have sky go you’ve subscribed and so should be using your decoder box. And if you want it in a second tv they’d prefer you rented a second box.

Obviously they don’t want to encourage credential sharing.

I think thats fine. Once they work out how to block that, we can all have multi room multi everywhere for free

Yep - as I said - SkyGo via Chrome Desktop (on PC).

Edit: And quality is SD I believe? But meh..... for a 2nd screen option it's fine IMO - esp seeing as it may be costing me..... ummm....not  alot.....

OR you could pick up a MiBox (or similar) and side load the app. Have done this along with an app to simulate a mouse (for clicking). Works ok. Qualities pretty good. Crashes occasionally though.

FanPass offer Chromecast support on their app. Unfortunately the only offer the four main Sky Sport channels, and the app is very buggy. There is a reason for its low rating in the Google Play Store. Only 4 months to go for me... :(

I see the SA vs Oz cricket is not on Sky. Its only $25 to watch the last 3 tests. Makes Fanpass look cheap by comparison. And its a taste of when Sky goes under what we will end up paying

However, you can get (in Australia or NZ with a VPN) Foxtel Now with premium drama and sports for AU$44 per month, which makes Fan Pass pricing a joke. And unlike Fan Pass, it doesn't mysteriously rewind half an hour for no reason, or tell you "this video is no longer available". And you'll be able to watch the Aus vs SA test matches as Foxtel have the exclusive Australian rights.

Getting off topic, but those that are hoping that Sky die or loss sporting rights should be taking note. This is going to be an example of what is going to happen when/if Sky don't have the rights to the major codes. You'll need to start paying different providers for different sports, and it's going to cost a lot more in the end.

It will, and be kludgy as they wont all have apps on all the platforms. And for more than a few they may still need Sky plus a small handful of these extras, = piracy

My best method for Sky Go to tv might not work for you but I have this cable from my cell phone to tv. When phone asks for desktop mode I push it back to phone mode. Phone is Huawei Mate 10. Auto rotate on and wham full screen on Tv working fine. Rest of the time I use Chromecast using a Chromecast ultra to avoid any playback skips. I tried using sideload but the picture using cable is way better.

Alogic USB-C to HDMI Cable with 4K Support Male to Male - Elements Series - 2m $39 via trade me or $49 via Noel Leeming.
