I am looking at joining sky with the deal of free installation 12 month contract. It will cost $49.23 a month - can anyone tell me if there is a better deal out there - some people are telling me you can get cheaper sky deals with less channels.

No, there is no cheaper package, there is the UHF service but I believe they aren't doing more installations of UHF and given it's cost is/was higher than Digital it's not worth it.

The minimum package is start up for $49.23 but if you sign up online you get free installation and 12 free PPV movies (12 mth contract) not sure if you get the PPV movies if you sign up over the phone but you could ask?

Hiya Sledge12,

I think the $49.23 per month is including the Skywatch magazine so if you don't want it, the bill comes to $46.78 (I'm sure that's what shows on my bill anyway).

We have had Sky for over 12 years now and currently pay over $100 a month - money well spent for us. With MySky HDi and Multiroom, if you read Skywatch and use you PVRs accordingly and series links there is always something great to watch. The only thing we watch FTA is 3 News, the rest is banal viewing, so I don't know what you mean there is nothing to watch on Sky, certainly not the case for us.

You can get a slightly cheaper deal on the base package if you pay through your Telecom bill.  From memory you save about $8 a month.  I am on this plan and it works fine.  You also save money if you ask not to receive SkyWatch.

I think you might have to sign up with Sky first and then change over payment through Telecom for the base package.  I pay my base package through Telecom and I pay Sky directly for the sport channels.

Same here, although I'm only on the start up package and the standard STB (since July). Even though I had a few teething problems with them, which are now solved, I'm happy with the amount I pay for the programs they air. Plus, I just signed up for their $1 a month special on the Rialto channel, quite exciting as I get to see indie and foreign movies Laughing
