Hey, we just got mysky - it's great. I've programmed the Logitech harmony 525 remote for it and nearly all work fine except for the slow motion funtion. I cant seem to find a way to get it to work. Anyone here succeeded?

slow motion function?  what button is that?

You could always just teach the remote it, and use it as one of those functions in the LCD section, or use another unused button.

BTW if you figure out how to get it to 'channel surf' (hold down the channel up or down button and it'll skip through them), i'd be interested to know.  The Sky remote will do it fine, but when you do it with the Logitech, it will not repeat the function (channel up etc) on holding down.

I'm not sure if it's on the original mysky boxes. With the new HDi box you hold down the play button. I know what you mean with the "channel surfing" I noticed that it would only go up/down 1 at a time which is rather annoying. I'm sure it worked when we had the Harmony 525 +  the really old black STB. I'll have to have a tinker around with it tomorrow.

I don't know if it applies to the 525, but after a recent firmware update my 880 started doing different functions when you press the buttons longer. Works especially well with the Apple TV.
Don't know about MySky, though.

Don't get me wrong, they are bloody awesome remotes. I'm sure there is a way to get it to work.

Our Logitech Harmony 785 works excellently with all our equipment ( up to 15 IR items ) including MySky HDi, has the same coloured buttons as well that suits all the Sky functions. One of the best things we have ever purchased.

Don't jump the gun there. They're still the best thing since sliced bread. I cannot think of ever going back to having multiple remotes on the arm chair.
But instead of the 525, you should get the One.

There are a few gotchas with the way logitech approach things, but its an awesome remote... The problems I have are

It doesnt seem to come with discrete on and off commands, or inteligently do things like pressing a channel number to turn the tv on so that it doesnt turn off it it was on. No discreet AV commands for the tv and I think they do exist despite the ones in the device screens not working.

And on my mini system it uses the same transport keys for MD or CD, but different play buttons to start the appropriate deck - there are 4 play buttons on it, one of which cycles AM and FM, - but the only way to get it to aux is to use the function key to move between them. The default config is to just keep track of it, which breaks if you change it manually. I made a sequance to press tuner and then function the right number of times in the watch tv with the stereo activity.

The names of things are often too long for the screen. So when pressing help I got helpfull questions like "Is the CD/MD minisystem" whereas for the tv it would ask "is the TV on?" - I cant really blame logitech for the lack of discreete commands because they dont always work but it would be nice to be able to copy and paste the IR commands. I havent looked into the editing of its files because I cant even find them to see if it is possible to edit together commands etc..

yeah, i'm using a MySkyHDi box too.  Thanks for the tip re holding down the play button.

both our problems are symptoms of the same thing.  The Harmony remote doesn't seem to be able to send a continous 'pulse' to the set top box.  It can do it to other devices OK, but not the Sky box.

Maybe i'll post something on the Logitech forums tomorrow.

Remotes are in order of usage
Mysky (most used)
Receiver (for volume/muting mainly)
Mediacentre (obvious)
DVD recorder (hardly used)
TV Remote (hardly used at all)

So if the remote cant do everything exactly as the HDi remote can, then thats a no go because some people in the house use the channel scrolling up down thing all the time.

I'd love to know if theres a solution/better remote that isnt $200.

There are timing options in the software, I had to tweek them to get my crappy sat box not going up and down 2 at a time with one push, then it would not scroll the channels, there was another option in milliseconds that I just had to lower from 500 to 100 and it started to behave.
