Is anyone else having problems getting their MySky remote to work in the mornings? By which I mean, having to go right up close to the MySky box, and pressing the guide and planner buttons quite a few times to "register" the remote with box, after which it works quite happily?

It's NOT the battery, because once it's "registered" it works fine, all day, until the next morning when it has to be unfrozen again.

Strange, call sky and see what they think, may be a problem with the box.

I have that happen with the silver Pace decoder, it seems to happen as soon as the TV has been turned on that the remote won't register. I think it was just some interference thing, not sure if that's what is happening to you though.

I think that this problem is caused by the backlight on the TV when it starts up. Early model MySKYs were bad at filtering out the IR noise from the TV when it started up, so you had to put the remote up close to get it to work. Once the TV backlight calms down the remote starts working normally. The temporary fix was a small circle of 'tint-a-car' platsic film stuck over the IR receiver, until the box design was altered. You used to be able to get the stickon from SKY.

Another solution might be to change the backlight options on your TV but how & to what I don't know.

Interesting. Slightly off topic but my MySky randomly changes channels every now and then. I assume it's due to IR leakage as I have a whole bunch of devices (including mysky) in a cabinet controlled by an x-ray remote. I didn't realise MySky was prone to bad IR filtering. Is there anyway to tell if my model mysky is the old design?

The IR filtering problem was fixed at the same time as a larger lens was fitted. The original IR receiver lens was about 8mm in diameter and was replaced by one around 12mm in diameter. If you have the larger lens then you shouldn't have the issue. (Anything after hardware rev E9 should be OK, but this doesn't help you much as the hardware rev is not displayed in the system details screen). I'm told a chunk of insulation tape will work as a filter though it will dim down the real signal a bit more than the SKY patch.

I have had an issue with the MySky remote stopping working. Rang up sky and they sent a replacement.

About two days later it happened again and after restarting the Mysky box and taking out the batteries for a while it eventually started working again. (Not without some difficulty)

In the meantime, a Sky technician turned up and was going to change the box, but didn't becasue there was some content there that we did not want to lose.

The next time it happens Sky says they will replace the MySky box.
