Hi there,

I was wondering what i exactly need to make sky go into my room. currently we have sky in the lounge and was wanting to cable it through to the next room (my room).

I know you can get them senders but I bought one and it didnt work (unless someone recommends one).

A list of what i need and what i need to do would be great!

I run a long composite vga cable from our lounge mysky to the bedroom via the scart plug (using scart-vga coverter) This gives a pretty good image in the bedroom.

My Wife is Indian and has her own satelite service (Vision Asia -another box/satelite dish) so the issue is who gets to use the lounge TV, not the skybox which really only I use.

The single Bollywood channel that Sky offers (Starplus) is not enough for her, she gets 8? or so through vision Asia and watches them alot.

Hence the cable for me.

I'd recommend running CAT5/6 cable and use component + audio over CAT5 converters.

I live in Palmerston North.

I dont have mysky. my sky decoder has RF In, TV Scart and VCR Scart free. hope this helps..

Probably be easiest to split the RF out signal. Get a dick smith L4671 splitter and a L4271 cable to go between the rooms.

Theres a million different ways to do it and far cheaper places to get those parts from (e.g trademe) but it gives you an idea of what you need.

So the rf out from the sky box goes directly to the splitter (no cable in between). The existing cable going to your tv connects to one output of the splitter, and then the long cable (i.e. the 10 meter one from dick smith) goes from the other output to the tv in the next room.

That will work (you will have to tune your TV to the UHF channel the Sky box is ouputting on) and you will need to unplug whatever RF cable you currently have plugged into your TV.

The SCART option will be better. Get a SCART cable with composite (yellow, red, white) and depending on how far you need to go, an extension cable for these three and plug them into AV in on the TV in the bedroom. It will work fine from either TV-Scart or VCR-Scart on the sky box (VCR-Scart bypasses the Sky decoder volume control so you get a consistent volume level over the composite cable and use the TVs volume control to adjust sky volume).

As a check, what ever you chose to do, set it up down the hallway etc first before you go all in installing this in the walls/ceilings etc. ie. Check it works first.
