Hi guys,
So recently I have noticed tearing and freezing while watching HD Movies on MySky.
The freezing is ever so slight, about half a second, and seems to happen when there is a lot of movement on the screen at the time, supposedly when more data gets sent to the Tv?
These issues happen regardless if anything is recording, strangely though if I rewind and replay the part that froze it seems to work fine! Issues only seem to show on Movies

My sky was connected to my bluray player via HDMI, I changed this so the sky goes into the TV direct (HDMI) and have an optical cable going to the bluray. No change.
I checked my sat signal, the results are
Tuner 1 Signal 77dBuV Quality 12.4dB TS8
Tuner 2 Signal 78dBuV Quality 13.7dB TS3
Tuner 3 Signal 77dBuV Quality 12.3dB TS7
Tuner 4 Signal 77dBuV Quality 11.8dB TS0

I rang sky, who weren't all that helpful, they asked multiple times if I had restarted my box, which I did. They seemed to think my TV was incompatible? Its a 50" LG 50pk750 so I'm sure its not that.
They sent someone out anyway, who instantly installed a new box. Yet again I still have the issues.
So im not too sure what to do, could it be my HDMI cables? They are the cheaper ones but all say they are rated for 1080p.

Maybe I'm being too picky, it just really ruins what ever movie I'm watching.

I've seen it once with our MySky HDi a couple of days ago. Happened so quickly I did a double take.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

The bar says info156E

I went out and purchased some new HDMI cables to see if that helps in any way, no such luck.
Sky are sending someone out tomorrow to look at the dish, hopefully they can sort it out.

The sky techs replaced the box, the cable and the dish. Nothing fixed the issue. I guess it's a transmission latency or bandwidth issue.

So what are Sky going to do about it now?
Keep us updated.

I'm seeing the exact same problem. Until i read you post i thought i was imagining it.

I first noticed it last weekend and only twice while watching live movies i didnt think to rewind and see if it was there.

I am running a long (5m) HDMI cable but have been for over 12 months and never seen this before.

i too have a new 50" TV but its 4 months old now and havent noticed it before.

I will be rebooting myski to see if that helps.

Sky are doing nothing about it, and since they had never heard anyone else with similar problems they ruled it down to me seeing things, as each time the tech came the issue wasn't seen. So I gave up, but if more people were to ring up with the same issue we might just get somewhere.

Interesting. I'm seeing the exact same thing on my Vu+Duo, and wondered if it was specific to that device. I'm kind of relieved it's not, but would be interested in the cause. As the OP says, it appears to be confined to movies (ie. TV1, 2 & 3 + Sports all fine in HD). I've also noticed it worst when the movie switches to a new scene - it's as if the rapid change of screen content causes it to buffer and then try to catch up.

Given that fast content and scene changes are common in sports, and the problem doesn't happen there, I'd come to the conclusion it's not my HT Amp or TV.

Also, it seems to come and go - sometimes fine, but other times quite noticeable. Thinking back, I'd say it started at least a couple of months ago, as I first saw the problem when setting up XBMC on an HTPC that plays streams from the Duo. At the time I assumed it was XBMC, so reverted to using VLC which seems to handle it better, but then started seeing it on the main system TV as well.

Did you ever notice it before or has it all of a sudden happened? Maybe they have squeesed their bandwidth down on that channel? I have no idea about satelites but assume its all data and bandwidth.

Well i first noticed it when watching little fockers on sky movies 1 HD an just brushed it off i cant recall which night that was on but last week sometime, But last night it was really bad again on sky movies 1 watching the killers movie that was on around 10pm-12am before both of these times i've never noticed it before on any sky channels. If this keeps up i will end up cancelling sky movies

Last night i switched to sky movies (20) and was watching(live) for about 5 mins and got the freeze and tear. I went back and replayed the section again and there was no freeze or tearing.

So its not the feed to the box as the recording is ok, it must be soemthing else. It has only just started happening.

Hi, I dont know what the issue is but could it infact be the frame buffer in your TV. Dont forget when running movies the deinterlacer will be working quite different to 1080i video material as would be on TV1/2/3 (unless running movies) or Sky sport.
