I have just purchased a digital television. I have sky (older type, not mysky ) and a vhs recorder.

Since connecting the digital tv up i no longer am able to record anything that is not on DTV. The sky is running on the AV channel.

I have managed to get a sky channel on the ATV channel but still not able to record via this.

Are the connections not compatible with a digital tv? Is that my problem?

How have you got it connected up?

If you had Sky connected to VCR using AV cables (and connected to TV at the same time with another set of AV leads - most sky decoders have at least two outputs), you should be able to record sky.

Thanks for reply.

I had AV cables creating a 'loop' from Sky decoder to VHS recorder to TV.

I will get a list of how it appears to be set up now, as you suggest the cables should do the job.

That should still work, go from sky -> VCR Line in -> TV AV-In.
To watch sky you would have to have VCR on and set to Line In (L1 or AV1 or whatever) and TV set to AV.

Ideally you would have an AV cable from the Sky box to the AV inputs on the VCR and seperate AV cable from the Sky box to the AV inputs on the TV.
All Sky boxes I've seen have at least two AV outputs to allow for this (Usually two SCART outputs and on set of RCA outputs)

Just changing the TV cannot have any effect on the ability to record Sky.
You have obviously altered some connections somehow and we need more info.
Presumably you are able to tune Freeview Digital OK?
Check all your connections.
The only thing you won't be able to do is record Freeview from your Digital TV as if it is Freeview Certified then it wont have any video output terminal to record from.
As others have said. Run AV from Sky to TV. Another AV from Sky to the VCR. There should be two AV out on the Sky box. Run Av from the VCR to TV. Plug the antenna in to the TV only. Should all work.
If it's a really old Sky box with only one AV out then run that to the VCR and AV from VCR to TV. Plug antenna to TV only.
The VCR will be useless for recording except via AV in next year anyway after ASO.
