Has anyone heard of this before, I read it on a car forum... just wondering if anyone has anymore inforrmation about this:

Buy a certain type of vodafone nokia phone and ad a chip to the phone!! Next hard wire a battery charger to the phone for its charging all day long!! Make sure the phone is hidden and on slient first!! Then download a army GPS program that is used in New Zealand!!

Now . . say if your car is stolen!! What you do is text the cell phone sitting in your car, and it will automatically text a message back giving its coordinates, Then you jump onto your computer and type in the coordinates and it tells you where abouts in New Zealand your car is!!

Cheers,
Brady

Urban legend. But if you want something like this, try the Globalsat TR-101. It's a GSM device, with no display. It can only call pre-defined numbers, it can filter incoming calls and SMS.

Most importantly, if you send a SMS to this device it will reply automatically with its location based on its internal GPS.

This is something that works. I have one here for testing.

They sent me one for review. I am not sure where in New Zealand yet, but Globalsat products are available here.
