Has anyone had more then 250kBps out of Apache. I'm using bluetooth & USB, but just geing 250kBps.
Surely there must be configurable setting to use EVDO 2MBps?

I would be amazed if you see 2mbps I am sure the average is 600k to 1. something

At 256kbps you are on EVDO. Bluetooth is limited to around 700kbps but USB is able to achieve the network maximum. I have had 1.6Mbps out of an Apache using USB.

Your speed could be influenced by coverage or congestion.

Thanks for the comments John but you are incorrect. A few months ago I was getting 2.1Mbps in Auckland using a data card.

Currently using a Harrier over EVDO and USB cradle.

1st 128K took 1234 ms = 106217 Bytes/sec = approx 884 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 1625 ms = 80660 Bytes/sec = approx 671 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 1547 ms = 84727 Bytes/sec = approx 705 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 1047 ms = 125188 Bytes/sec = approx 1042 kbits/sec

Pretty good really.

As for the original question, it's your Bluetooth connection. Bluetooth on a PC is "wired" through the serial drivers and thus limited to 256Kbps, even though the standard in theory supports 1Mbps.

Use the USB cable, You won't get full speed otherwise, The Bluetooth is limited to 112Kbps I thought? same with serial?
