I've got the sanyo phone and datapilot software and usb cable but can't make it all work.
Device manager knows theres a modem there (the phone) but datapilot says not connected or not supported.. HELP!!

You will find that 80% of data cable problems are caused by either incorrect drivers or and incorrect driver installation procedure.

I have no idea about the Sanyo ( I own a TX-95c), but I would suggest you visit the official sanyo site for the 8100, and search for any driver updates etc.

Also, check your installation procedure (order of connecting, and installing) - I remember when I owned a Nokia , the data cable would not work properly if you installed the software with the phone plugged in. I suggest you check readme's and documentation for anything similar.

Yes you should be able to use the data cable for normal dial up connection over CDMA

Hey there, REALLY wanting to know where abouts (in auckland new zealand) I could get a data usb cable for my sanyo 8100 and the needed software to upload ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers, games etc. As I said I REALLY want all this plz, so someone please tell me where I can find all this preferably cheap.

Also when I recieve a pxt on this phone I need to go on the net (WAP) to see it, why is this? No other phones do this that I know of, and because of having to go on the net too see it I can't even save the pic to my phone!! How stupid is this!!

So someone, anyone, please reply to this asap, CHEERS AND THANKS TO ALL, PIECE!

Hi Logan, if you visit out website: http://www.pccard.co.nz in the left hand column there is a 'Where to Buy' link. It lists a number of retailers for the Auckland region.

Alternatively any Telecom More Mobile or Business Directions store can supply you one. You may want to ring first and make sure they have stock though.

yea i went to a telecom store, they can do one with software cd for $100. if i buy from telecom with the software cd (he said it came with) is that all i need to upload stuff i find from the net? thanks for all your help, i appreciate it. Logan

It sounds a little bit on the cheap side, but if it's one of our cables with the Datapilot software (NZ Version) then yes, that's all you need to sync calander (outlook), contacts, photo's. etc.

Not sure if you got someone new or someone who looked at the old pricing, basically it costs us a fair whack more than $100 to get the cable into the store to sell it. When the Sanyo 8100 first came out there was a cable that had been used for the US version of the same phone that had been imported and advertised to dealers as having a RRP of $100. What they found tho was that the NZ had significantly different phone software to the US version and it simply did not work no matter what they tried, hence that product never actually reached release stage. APT have now developed their own cable and software that actaully works, included with the cable is a license for the NZ version of the DATA PILOT software which actually costs quite a bit in the US without a cable. This cable has a RRP of $199 If that Telecom guy can provide you with a working cable and software for $100 great - I have no idea how it can be done to work with the NZ version of the 8100. Otherwise you're looking at a RRP of $199

That would be a good question for Jarad Wise from APT, ask him how much effort, time and frustration goes into developing the cable and interface software for them. There is also the licensing issue for some of the proprietory synching software such as Data Pilot for the Sanyo. The cheapest retail i've seen is $100 RRP for the TX95c
