Hello! I have a Wavecom Fastrack M1206B GSM/GPRS modem that I want to use for sending some data from a measurement device to a server. I have tried in vain to establish a connection using the instructions in the manual, but no luck. But if I configure it as a dial-up connection, it works, so no problem with the modem. But, when using HyperTerminal, I get the NO CARRIER respones when I try to execute ATD*99***1#, after a couple of lines of gibberish. Also, what puzzles me, is what AT commands, if any, should I use to enter the user, password, DNS supplied by my mobile operator. And my second problem, assuming I am somehow able to connect to the internet, is how do I send data to a server? Do I have to open a socket?
Once you are connect this will be just another Internet connection - open sockets do your stuff, open listening ports, whatever you need and would do with a normal connection.
Have you tried the AT CGDCONT command before the ATDT, to provide the correct APN and context?
Thank you for your quick reply. I've realized that the modem we were using didn't have a TCP/IP stack. So, first, I'll see if it can be enabled or if I should get another modem. I'll keep posting if I run into other problems.
