It is a Sanyo 7400. It will be less than $500 when released. It has video messaging, Push to talk and loads more. It can even match the contact list and tell you via speech who you recieved a txt message from. Very very nice phone.

AFAIK its not on a NZ website yet.

This will probably be the single best phone TNZ has had so far, and its just the beginning...

No firm date yet. We are hoping to have it out by the end of this month.

Push to talk and Video Messaging service may not be live till Februrary.

You will certainly be able to do that.

If I said I worked for Telecom, I might get to much hate mail !!! :-)

Fair enuff, personally i believe telecom have done a great job being a NZ owned company. Vodafone doesnt even get service where i live and $10 txt rules!!! DO you happen to know if the Sanyo 7400 looks much like the 8100 or is it uglier/nicer looking?

Its nicer with a coloured insert (which wont be red for obvious reasons).

Check out the 3G thread for more on what Telecom is doing in the marketplace.

As soon as video messaging is launched, it will be available everywhere at once (i.e. in all 027 areas, rural or otherwise).

An issue with screen size surprises me, the 8100 has a great screen - its big and bright and 65k colour. Best screen on the TNZ range (not that its available right now).

7400 should be almost identical screen.

Sure the screen is colourful etc but compared to the size of the hyundai pxt phones it is pathetic......
