Hi, just wondering if there are any ring tone WAP sites that support the One Touch 332 ring tone format (I dont know what format it uses, but it's not mid, mp3 or wav).

All the ones I have tried (I must have spent $20 on WAP charges today alone) all say 'invalid format' or something once they are downloaded.

The built in download feature that goes to wap.myonetouch.com or somewhere has 4 tunes to download (all of which suck) and they work ok, but none of the cool 80s songs I want are available.

I want to get this phone loaded with Aha Take on Me and Survivor Eye of the Tiger before Christmas, dammit!

Any tips? Thanks.

Right your a helpfull bunch! (Just kidding!) :D

Anyway, since this was a matter of life and death for me, I took matters into my own hands and did a little research. Basically the OT332 uses Alcatel .SEQ files for the ring tones, not native midi like the newer phones. I found if you sign up to Alcatel's developer site you can download the Alcatel media utility (which works for most of their phones) which can make ring tones from midi files (and wallpapers, VOX clips, etc, etc). Then I made my own and got a WAP site set up to host them. This was interesting since I had to learn WML enough to make a page, and also the IIS server needs to support specific MIME encoding formats for the various files (.SEQ, .VOX, etc). Anyway it's all done and works ok. The ringtones need a little more work, but they'll do for now.

If you wanna try it on your Alcatel 332 the wap site is:

http://wap.firestorm.net.nz/index.wml

There are currently 4 polyphonic ringtones available, A-Ha: Take on Me, Survivor: Eye of the Tiger, Pet Shop Boys: Heart, and last but not least MacGuyver TV theme (my favorite).

Cheers,
SLAM-ER

Don't think u can install games on this phone (budget model). U can do wallpapers etc no probs, I was gonna add some to my test site, but there's no easy way for you to do your own unless you can host your own WAP site (which requires some changes to the host server 's MIME type settings so you cant really use an ISP 'homepage' type site to host it...

Well I spent 10mins replying only to have my reply disappear...

Anyway, yeah I can put up a couple of requested songs if they are easy enough to find and convert. Also wallpapers should be pretty easy so link some pics you want to use and I will try that out as well.

I should be able to do it this week, but no promises though.
