Hi all, we have two Nokia 6225's and one 3205 - both capable of MMS and photo messaging. My comment relates to how these 6225's recieve a photo message. It seems that if i take a snap on a 6225 and send it to my 3205 the picture is as i took it, however if i recieve photo from either another 6225 or 3205 etc the picture is really distorted and the whole message is shrunk to under 2Kb.

After 4 phone calls to Telecom i finally got to speak to someone who seems to know. There has been a firmware upgrade to the 6225's in the last few weeks that supposed to fix this issue with 6225's recieving photo's.

now we all have to take our phones into a Telecom dealer with proof of purchase for them to reprogram and flash our handsets. $500 and we all have to send them back.

Typical Telecom, sell us locked up functionless paperweights.

BTW you can check your firmware version with *#837# if it reads "V H100V0700.nep" and you have a 6225, this means your handset requires the upgrade and recieving photos will be poor until you do.

The latest version for the 6225 is VH100V1900.nep this was released on the 24th August 2004. There have been no further updates or revisions. The service agent in NZ for Nokia is Accord Customer Care. I suggest that you send them an email to find out what paper work they need from you service@accordccs.co.nz

There should not be a charge as this firmware release fixes known issues.

When was the last time you heard of a product recall for an issue not related to causing human injury i.e. dodgy power supply? Has Microsoft recalled your computer recently? Seems an odd comment. So does refering to Telecom as selling 'locked up functionless paper weights'. Telecom don't make phones nor do they decide on what functions the phones will have - therefore I will assume that this comment was directed at Nokia.

Have a happy day!

Jama,
not to add fuel to the fire but surely in Telecom NZ specific firmware for their CDMA handsets Telecom do have say in elements of functionality but that is their progorative.
Sometimes 'locking up a handset' is a good idea because for every person optimizing their phone with the same information people will quiet possibly destroy their phone settings with service codes etc.

Just out of interest what is your role within Telecom and what does Jama represent - not as your username but it has a role within the Telecom scheme of things doesn't it.

Hey all, back on track with this huge blunder telecom has thrown at us who chose to buy the more expensive 6225 handset.

I as well ventured into a telecom store today and they had no clue what i was talking about. Typical.

Here is another post with some other people havin the same trouble.

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=11&topicid=3022&page_no=1

I have personally paid out $1200 in the last six months for 2 phones that are totally not functional, telecom deny there is a problem yet if you line up a 6225 with a 3205 next to each other and photo message between them its clear there is a problem.

Somebody from telecom needs to address this. Its unfair trade.

I did email service@accordccs.co.nz and got a reply but even though they can reflash your handset, i was warned that it might totally toast it to a new factory nokia phone and be fully locked. As well as telling me they were not aware of such faults.

If anybody has any luck post here please.

Is this problem still there for the new 6225s that are being sold? Does the fix actually fix it, and is it applied already at purchase?

Snicholl - the word Jama is used in some mobile data login information.

Jama (the person) is a well respected in-the-industry person, but doesnt actually work for Telecom.

I'll vouch for Jama too. Although I think you'll find that while he works for another company, he actually works under a Telecom employment contract.
