Hi. Does anybody have any information on Truetone files - I have a whole lot of music just waiting to be converted into Ringtone and I want the best way to do it to support as many Telecom phones as possible :)

Read these forums for info in .GCD files (SPRINT PCS Object push) You need "purevoice" from the CDMATECH website to convert them,, the Command-line is more reliable but harder to use.

Samsung support Direct downloading from wap along with the Yamama SMAF format aka .MMF files though i'm still testing "truetones" on these handsets.

(Should I be telling you this?)

I've downloaded PureVoice and I have saved my first qcp file. Is that what I want to do?

What is the best tool for creating .MMF files? Is there a command line tool?

----

I believe you're doing Telecom (and the local mobile community) a service by sharing this information - the more people with content that know how to convert it the better.

Telecom & Vodafone should stick to being networks (which is what they are good at) and provide the power to us (the content kids, which is what we're good at). I always like to use the Counter Strike success story - if Valve hadnt given the community the tools to create Counter Strike they would not have ended up with the Worlds most popular First Person Shooter game ever. Its that simple :D

Unsure with mmf ringtones (you may as well use .MID unless you want to lock the files against forwarding)

MMF "voicetones" are easily made with a Yamaha tool. it's a drag and drop type tool..
you feed it 8khz 16 bit WAVE files and it spits out the .MMF
Bear in mind, most phones only support a max file size of 50KB. so your "tones" have to under 10 seconds.

See..

http://smaf-yamaha.com/tools/downloads.html#wscma2s
though the MIDI conversion tools are there also.

and if you want more info on general content... See below....

Tools for making ringtone files!!!!!!

Vodafone.....
Polyphonics are just plain old MID music files... pretty simple really.....

AMR (realtones, Voice recordings) ((((((((((((TRUSTED software)))))))))))) by Sony Ericsson
Go get the Commandline AMR-WAV/WAV-AMR converter from:

http://www.ericsson.com/mobilityworld/developerszonedown/downloads/tools/messaging/AMR_Converter_v_12.zip

SMAF (You have mp3 and AMR but you can share these with your Sharp and Samsung friends) ((((((((((((TRUSTED software)))))))))))) by Yamaha
download some free tools from yamaha themselves!!!!

http://smaf-yamaha.com/

Telecom......

Read these forums for info on .GCD files (SPRINT PCS Object push) as this needs to be downloaded first for the phone to obtain the ringtones (locking-up format) You will also need to add MIME filetipes to your webserver for .GCD, .QCP, (see forums for full details)

MID files work as ringtones.... Pretty simple really.

Voicetones are created with a tool called QCELP which makes little compressed "realtones" out of 16 bit 8KHz wave files. This is known as "purevoice" by Qualcomm. But I cannot seem to find the command line encoder any longer though I can email it to anyone whom is interested.
