I recently bought an LG HD6000 CDMA phone through Ebay and as I don't live in an Orange area I needed to transfer it to Telstra..The seller on Ebay was assured that it could be transfered...NOT.... I tried calling Telstra 4 times..each time was told that Orange had to unlock it..I called Orange and they said that Telstra had to..went to a Telstra shop and still had no luck..What I want to know is as it is locked to Orange and I hear that Orange is moving to 3 network..will this damn phone still be able to be used and upgraded to the 3 network..otherwise I may as well throw it away..it is nearly brand new and would be such a waste..

Expanding on Jama's comments, it's very unusual for a CDMA operator to connect to its network a phone that's not certified, or certified by other networks. Those phones include specific firmware stuff that will not work, or cause problems when used in other networks.

If you bough an Orange phone, try and get that connected to an Orange account. You will then be able to upgrade to their 3G network when they complete the transition plan.

But if have a Telstra account, I am sorry but the guy who sold that saying it would be connected was a scammer.

i did the same thing same phone and i rang orange and they are no longer giving new numbers to CDMA phone
and telstra wont be able to help so sorry you have none and bucklys of anything happening its useless did the ebay site say anything about it bieng in orange i was for warned so my fault

Thank you all for your feedback..I am told that in the area where I live in country West Aust we are changing from CDMA network in about 3 years to 3G so maybe if I put this damn phone in a cupboard till then I can use it or better still give it to my young grandson to play with......

That is not going to help either. Telstra are moving away from CDMA to WCDMA which are different technologies. Your phone is now a door stop.

they are no longer doing CDMA at all so a no go i was told so the phone is useless
