hi people

i have $400-450 to spend on a new handset and would like some feedback based upon user experience on what could potentially be my best buy. Android would be great but these come at a price so any info would be a big help. I forgot to mention xt network only.

What network? This makes a huge difference.

There are a couple of cheap Android handsets - if you are on Vodafone or 2degrees the IDEOS is probably the best out there, and less than your budget.

If you are only wanting to go on the XT network, I would recommend the Nokia N8. Currently at 25% off at The Warehouse. However, it ends tonight so you have to buy online right now! $749. You can use it on the XT or Vodafone/2degrees network.

Update: Bugger, just realised your budget. Anyway, it's a good phone, well worth it.

I'd agree with freitasm. Plus the IDEOS runs Android 2.2.

If you've got $400-450 you should look at the LG Optimus one P500 - it's got a much bigger (3.2") screen, has sat nav built in and includes a car cradle, 2gb sd card included, 600mhz processor, swype keyboard and the list goes on.

Overall it's a faster and better phone than the Ideos but it is more expensive - at the moment it's at DSE for $404 incl 2d sim.

But if you really need to be on XT then the Galaxy 5 is a nice phone (not as nice as the LG though
