My sister wants to buy a S2 and I was wondering what parallel importers you guys have used to buy handsets in the past and your experiences with them.

MobiCity is reputable and you won't have any problems with them.

I would say go and do a search through Geekzone after checking prices and retailers on PriceSpy.co.nz. There's plenty of commentary around this:)

Just bought a Defy through Digi Parallel and would happily deal with them again.

The have a Trademe store or you can deal through their website. There's a few shops in NZ so they're not a web-shop only, which wouldn't be my first choice. They show what is and isn't in stock and you can ring and get confirmation.

I placed an order on a Sunday night and had the phone on Tuesday, which impressed me as I'm in the middle of nowhere and any courier package gets passed over to the RD postie which can delay things but not in this case.

The phone was well packed for postage and the original factory packaging was intact. Current model, with 2.2.2 Android.

I have been critical of Expert Infotech on these forums in the past. However a few weeks ago a I bought a new Samsung SGS2 from them (to replace one originally bought from Clove UK that I had lost). They were really cheap - $824 at the time. They now appear to have some at about $798.

So long as they have the phone physically in stock, I think they're fine. I called them to make sure they had the phone and then went over to the store to pick up and pay. However I would avoid them if it's not actually in store.

I am totally happy with the phone I bought from them - it was all sealed-up in its box as should be, etc. The only slight drawback is that it came with a UK-plugged charger. They give a UK > NZ adapter for this. The S2 I bought from Clove had the same, so, meh.

In the past I have found their attitude and customer service to be pretty poor but I have to say that the young woman that I dealt with recently was great.

Interesting. I can't see much difference between this and the SGS2 and it's $100 cheaper. The SGS2 has a slightly smaller screen and the Infuse has no FM radio. Most everything else seems much the same - what am I missing here?

+1 for Expert Infotech in Auckland.
I like that they have a physical store, and people you can poke in the eye, rather than the anonymity of a web store. Have dealt with them a number of times in past 3 years.

But like all parallel stores they're there to shift stuff at lower margins, and I suspect the staff aren't so well paid. So do your homework and know why you want what you want, and the relevant specs.

+1 for infotech they replaced a phone that was faulty after 2 weeks and exchanged it for totally different phone I just paid the diff

I have purchased many phones from Mac at Digi Imports on Queen St. Auckland.

Excellent service and price.

Ability to manage a vaiety of smartphone queries vey good !
