I just got a TiVo, liking it so far, but I'd like it even more if I could use the US TiVo app for iPad with it.
Thing is I think a week or two ago I would have been in luck, but since the app has been recently updated it requires logging in to the American TiVo.com to add your device.
Is anyone using the old version, 1.9? I reckon if I could get my hands on the 1.9 .ipa I could make it work.

unlikely you would get it working as the US version will want to talk to the tivo servers in the USA which don't contain any info  on NZ accounts or the NZ guide.

yes it would be good if it worked, maybe someone from Tivo NZ could enlighten us to why it's not avaliable?

I don't believe the app has ever been available in the NZ app store, unfortunately.
I'm so grumpy about the way TiVo has been handled in NZ, the new TiVo stream to iPad device looks AWESOME and I want one! But I am SOL.

Cheers,
Joseph

The UK Virgin Media customers have been using the US app while they've been waiting (and waiting) for Virgin to release a similar app. Using the same method as them I can get my tivo detected by the app but with the new version that just came out it also requires logging in to tivo.com to complete the setup. The old version just needed a code from the tivo.
I don't believe NZ will ever have an app like the US one, so I'm not ready to give up on it yet. I'll ask on UK/US forums to see if anyone can help out with an .ipa.
It's a free app in the US, and I'd love to use it (even if it does have reduced functionality). I'd rather pay for the app, I'd pay $10 for a fully functional app of the same quality as the US one, but if I have to jailbreak my ipad to try someone elses .ipa out I'll do it.

I downloaded the app using my US iTunes account, I then tried signing up to TiVo.com, however it said that it does not allow Australian boxes to activate. Doesn't look like we can use the app in NZ as it requires a TiVo account registered via TiVo.com :(

I would be nice if someone from Tivo NZ would comment on why we here in NZ don't get access to this app

Possibly because it failed miserably (well at least the marketing and distribution did) and they don't want to spend time and money developing something new for a product that at the moment appears doomed to fade into NZ history.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Last I heard there was no Tivo NZ and technically it's being run out of Australia for the likes of support etc?

As above, it's got potential but we're being served up 4 year old hardware with limited support here in NZ, with regards to CASPA content etc and certainly no ipad type app.  There is the online booking function though but no streaming, unless you get the home network package?  Does that stream to a computer?

Vu+ Duo etc seems to be where it's at if you're after that sort of media server approach.

Sorry, no iPad app.

The US firmware is different to AU/NZ firmware and they aren't compatible in regards to the iPad app.

The firmware wasn't an issue, it was/is easily worked around with a script running on a computer.
I wasn't able to find an old copy of the app, the one that didn't require the TiVo.com login. I wish I had gotten my TiVo a week or so earlier than I did so I could have used it.
