when you try a manual connection does it give any error info (other than N11)?

I would try an adsl router restart if you haven't already.

Try ping your tivo from somewhere else on your network

Then try and determine if your router is not blocking it to the outside world. Put your Tivo into a DMZ on your router to determine if your router is blocking something.

Try giving it another IP address, that may help.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I know you mentioned using wired earlier, is it still connected by ethernet cord rather than wireless?

Also is the tivo actually getting a DHCP assigned IP address or are you currently entering it manually?

have you tried using the wireless dongle instead? I have connected today to the tivo service to test it for you, so I don't think it is a problem at their end.

Many months back I had a similar problem which suddenly occurred. TiVo support suggested it would be a problem with my ISP. I contacted them with a list of the required ports for access and they were adamant that nothing was blocked at their end. I lent my TiVo to a friend who had one and it worked fine at his place.
Finally I advised my ISP that I wanted to upgrade my data plan but would have to change ISPs as my TiVo wouldn't work with them. Within 48hrs it started connecting OK. A week later I got an email suggesting I try again now, as they had discovered a routing error with my connection!

Sounds like the same sort of problem. Does tivo work on a particular port that ISPs can block? OP who is your ISP?

There's quite a list of addresses and ports used in total for TiVo server connections. Some of them are routinely blocked to stop people running ftp sites I think. My problem started after I was allocated a permanent address by my ISP.

If you have a smart phone you could setup a wireless hotspot and then using the wireless dongle for the tivo connct to that and see if it works.

I've had numerious network issues with my tivo, finally tracjed it down to the DSL modem supplied with Vodafone (HG556a), the easiest solution was to put an unmanaged switch between the tivo and DSL router, ever since then it's been fine.

How about you give us some more info, like your ISP, the type of DSL rounter/modem it's connected to
