My old Tivo gave up the ghost a while back and I tried everywhere to get a new one. I ended up going over to FreeView and I don't like it much.

I know Fishpond can bring them in from the States, but when I asked about any guarantee offered, they never replied back. I so miss my Tivo

Does anyone know how I can get another

In one of the other threads, even though it was "out of warranty" it was still replaced for free. Try and get your current one replaced before buying another.

good luck with that.

there is minimal nz customer service now.

i tried getting "refurbished" replacements for my dead tivo.

what arrived was neither refurbished nor working !

ended up selling my dead tivo and buying a near-new one off TradeMe.

I don't think overseas models will work here.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

hold off a couple of weeks and get a freeviewplus STB instead.

Often this is just a hard drive failure. Bang in a new harddrive and it might start working again. Google it though, need to determine if that is the case and what type of drive is compatible first.

Sadly I had a clean out and threw the old Tivo away thinking I could just get another. I have the Freeview ultra, which is ok, but already in the shop being reparied only after a few months. Still it looks like we have to get used to the way things are now..

I have wondered whether we could set up- a Tivo Section here for those that need refurbishing.

Where possible I'd love to recycle them. The hard drive fix is easy if that is all it is.

So what about a Tivo Graveyard Forum or something?..

Thread turnover.

A dedicated place would keep the Tivos that need work up front.

I found some old discussions that started on one point and then part way through detailed Tivos that were being thrown out or sold.

A dedicated place might help keep some of them going.

I'd even do some HDD fixes for free just for the fun of keeping them going!

I own 3 tivos I buy new ones & keep them just in case. I upgraded my main one to a 2TB drive I bought it from weaknees dot com. that was a learning experiment they managed to send a drive that wasnt formatted for nz so had to return it at my cost etc got there eventually expensive hassle that was probably should have figured out how to linux ghost my 320gb drive to 2TB drive. Anyway time was money so I took the easy option so I thought. All in all my 2Tb tivo works great & I have a spare HDD if it stops so I can flick it in. I should probably copy my 2Tb but that would be smart. If you want to buy a drive they are Green WD 5400 drives 2Tb.
