Not sure if this is the best forum but here goes.

I have set up a clever little trail camera on the coast that takes and emails me an image twice an hour. I'm using this to keep a remote eye on swell conditions for surfing.

Question: Is there a way I can email this image to the web via FTP somehow?  I know the image is wrapped up in the email container so it's not straightforward but thought someone here might have a clever idea.

Thanks for your help.

Use WebCamXP - does everything for you inc running a small HTTP gallery so you can view it from the web.
It can also upload to FTP etc

Are you sure the camera doesn't support FTP upload directly?

Otherwise you are looking at a 2 step process - email somewhere then something to pick those up, process them and serve via http or ftp.

Guy at work wanted something similar, but didn't want to host the images. We ended up playing with email to a special gmail account and then using a gmail script to dump attached photos the Google drive. Seems to work well.

Will check out the WebCamXP, sounds like it could be the answer.

The device can FTP direct but it comes down to the cost of mobile data. The device automatically downsizes the image for email (which is still perfectly adequate.) Unfortunately the lowest camera resolution is a 5mp image which is what gets sent by FTP. The cost to FTP 26 high res images a day (over 800 a month) via 3G mobile makes the whole exercise uneconomical.

Thanks for replies.

Thanks DavidCole, are you able to point me in the direction of the Gmail script?

Have had a quick look at WebCam XP but I'd prefer this system to work 24/7 without my having to run any software ... I'm actually Mac based as well.

Can IFTTT do anything for you? Its sorted a few things out for me, I am sure there must be a recipe to do this.
