Hi everyone,

I don't know where to ask so I figured I'd leave this thread here. I'm currently experimenting with film photography and messing around with different methods of shooting using film. I've just finished up a roll of standard 35mm film and I need them scanned with the sprockets showing, something similar to contact sheets, but after doing some research I'd have to buy myself a ~$300 and more flatbed scanner which I can't say will be a good investment for me in the long run. No film lab (that I know of) do scans with the sprockets showing.

Does anyone on here own a flatbed scanner (Epsons, Canons) I could have my film scanned with? I'm in Auckland if that helps, and I don't mind paying for using your scanner. I'm just not able to buy one at this stage but if there are people on here (or friends you know of) who can scan film and/or own a flatbed, please feel free to reply or PM me.

You'll need a Win Xp/Vista PC for driver support, I haven't been able to find (working) drivers for Win 7 and above.

I keep an old WinXP laptop on hand for this ( and an old Dymo Labelwriter 320 )

it "installed" fine on my win 10 64 bit pc, all software installed fine. a shame i have lost the negatives i bought to scan. thus it just sits there.

I don't think it's worth shooting film now especially if you're short of money. Flatbeds have difficulty providing enough resolution to scan film and most don't have very good colour quality. The cheaper flatbeds' resolution is especially bad. The Epson V850 is very expensive. The last time I looked at Plustek 8000 and something was the best available for 35mm.

Welp, I like the niche of taking photos and then waiting for a few weeks or so until I get them scanned and developed at a lab, and I would've saved up some money for that by then. You do have a good point though, and man it sucks that the 'really good' flatbeds are always too expensive

Yes I do, though I havent tested scanning film strips - I think that there is a carrier meant for film strips, but it's been misplaced somewhere. But looking at the specs, the carrier only supports 1x 35mm frame, not a strip.

Bear in mind that the native resolution is 1200x2400 DPI

I may have some 35mm film strips handy to do some testing if you want.
