I have just got scam by an user on Facebook - Marketplace.

Went on the Marketplace to look for some firewood in wellington. Order 1.8 m3 for $200 of native wood and asked my wife to pay on delivery who didnot pay attentions,  pay him the money.

What I end up with are 0.9m3 of driftwood, nothing like what on the picture, call, text  but no luck also my Facebook were block too.

Is driftwood safe to burn? is salt safe to burn, if it's sea driftwood?

I think here still an active seller on Facebook. watch out

Tick off - out of so many things scam by buying firewood.

Got his plate from my security camera probably not worth the effect to chase him.

"While the flames are pretty, the smoke given off of the fire is toxic. Specifically, driftwood releases a lot of dioxin from combustion of salt-soaked wood. Dioxins are carginogenic, so burning driftwood from beaches is not recommended."

I once thought I could barbecue meat using driftwood, never again.

The salt in the driftwood will get deposited on your firebox and chimney, causing it to rust.

I just don't bother dealing with people on FB in for sale groups anymore unless its a $10 item. Been burnt and know of too many who have been burnt. (no pun intended)
