Has anyone had trouble with a grex d ami meter box? Our water heater cutout first then a hour later the power cutout, at first we thought their was a general power outage but soon realised the neighbors all had power so, we did the usual, checked the meter and then realised that the read out flicks between 3r 1628 then f000 10. Obviously these are error messages, does any boffins have a clue what these mean? The stove still has power running to it so it's definitey a internal house issue. Pleadr anyone? The worst thing is that it's 12 at night, thank god we can put the fridge on the stove for the yime being.
Best call you power company first to report the problem. Having said that I have been hearing a number or people having issues with their ripplers staying off affecting hot water recently.
Possibly the stove was wired up special like by a previous owner who was also using it to power a horticultural operation or something similar since the stove is a grunty cable that would never be used much.
I would start with the power company. Totally weird because it implies your stove is on a separate circuit to the rest of your power and in the worst case might be bypassing the meter. Did/does the stove remain active when the main switch in the meter box off?
If it is a shared tenancy of some kind it might be wired to the neighbors power. Not unheard of.
Definitely want to get that checked and understand what is going on. There may be safety issues.
Those messages on the meter screen are unlikely to be the issue. Every one of those meters I have seen have those come up. The one beginning with 3r always seems to have a different 4 letter number between meters. (and sometimes they start with 2r instead). But they all say F00010.
As for what is the actual problem the most likely one is a fault in your switchboard. I am guessing you have checked to make sure no RCDs are tripped? Otherwise if your house is connected to 2 or 3 phase power one of the phases might have failed. As for whether the stove has been wired to bypass the meter. Just turn a few elements on, then check the meter to see if the right arrow and square icons on the meter screen are flashing quickly. If so then the meter is recording the power being used by the stove.
