A couple of the Vantage aluminium exterior doors in my house seem to have dropped and, along with scraping against the frame, are difficult to lock. There does not appear to be any adjustment provided in the hinges and the only way I can figure to raise the bottom of the door would be to fit a shim (maybe cardboard) behind the lower frame hinge.  Would be very grateful for any advice.

Replacement hinge, or a washer between the two parts of the hinge

At least the hinges are screwed on and not riveted.  Put a level/ square on the frame and door to check whats dropped, but packing the hinge with metal is probably the easiest fix.

If the door is glass, normally popping the glass out then packing the door against the bottom of the frame (temporarily) then reinstalling the glass will square it back up again.

I would however suggest you get your installer to do it. It will take about 5 min per door

I work for a joinery company doing maintenance, we use Vantage (not that its different from others in this case)

What type of door is it? Looks like its just a hinge door, could be a french door.
How old? it looks 10+ years
Is it full height glass or does it have a vision rail?

It looks like an open out door, close the door, stand outside and have a look at where the hinges are. Is the top gap bigger than the bottom gap?
normal is around 6mm, if the top is 2mm bigger than whatever the bottom is, then you have a couple of options.
1) swap the top and bottom hinges (might last a couple years)
2) replace the hinges - If there is only 2 hinges on the door (depending on its age) i would suggest getting 3
3) Do as mentioned by someone else and put something behind the bottom hinge (im assuming its scaping on the bottom of the handle side)

hinges that old can be ordered from www.joineryhardware.co.nz
could be a : http://www.joineryhardware.co.nz/aluminiumjoineryhinges.php?id=146
but I would check that further
Vantage is made by APL, so is one of the APL hinges.

If the hinges look fine but the door is out of square, then it needs to be packed on the glass.
This works a similar way to the brace on a timber fence. Always comes from the bottom by the hinge, going up and across to the opposite corner.
I wont explain this any further because this isnt really a DIY option.
Its more likely the hinges.

Many thanks for all the helpful responses.

Types of doors: 1xsingle external opening in. 1xsingle external opening out. 1xfrench opening out.
20 yrs old
All 2xdouble glazed panes with 4x90mm hinges.

Took the easiest suggestion first and swapped top & bottom hinges...RESULT! Did the trick, all doors now open/close smoothly and lock easily.

Thanks again geekers.
