I have a monitored home alarm but want to change it to phoning me if there is an activation, rather than the security company. I am home 95% of the time.

I have all the instructions but just cannot get into the mode to let me change the numbers ("Dialler setup - for personal monitoring" -page 5 of the Quickfit ESL kit manual). I wanted to do this and test it before cancelling the monitored service.

Is this beyond the scope of a normal user (I am sorta techie but software rather than hardware!)?

Or if I cancel the monitored service will "a guy" have to come to make the changes anyway?

Any advice appreciated ... thanks.

Without me wasting time trying to find the manual or specs online does the alarm actually support voice notifications? The vast majority of panels just support alarm protocols such as ContactID when calling the monitoring company. If this is the vase with your panel changing it to call you isn't really going to be much use.

You need to know the installer code of the panel to make the change.

This would likely require someone coming out to reset it, since the installer code isn't something they will just give out.

No, according to the manual "monitoring and control via a touch tone telephone".

I have the code to get into the panel, yes, but having no luck getting to the correct area to change the numbers in it.

We had an alarm installed via a security company and they tried to get us to use their monitoring service. I said no, we wanted to monitor it ourselves. After much arguing they gave us the installer code and provided the installer manual. I set it up to phone our mobile number. There was no voice notification, but we knew it was the alarm whenever we got a phone call that sounded like a modem. We could press numerical buttons to turn the alarm on and off.

I can understand the reluctance of alarm companies to hand out info like this but since I've got a software background I had no problem setting it up and getting it all working.

Thanks!

The user manual I have (PDF) was created in April 2012, and we've had it 3-4 years.

Have PMd.

Have you proved your installer code by changing something else such as putting in a new user code?(P1E10E______ E)

Have you set 182 to domestic dial

Have a new unit sitting here at the moment so can try it on my one if required.
