I've not had any luck finding repair manuals online so posting here is anyone has any ideas (or as the last resort can recommend a *good* washing machine repair person in Wellington?)

Symptoms: Sometimes the washing machine won't respond to controls when switched on. This means the power button is pressed (and power light comes on - this is wired directly off the power switch not the control board) and nothing else happens - nothing on the 7 segment displays normally showing cycle time remaining and none of the cycle option buttons buttons do anything. Interestingly if I leave the washing machine, come back later and turn it on again it might go back to working normally (and will run a complete cycle.)

My thoughts: With the intermittency of the problem I wondered if it's an internal cut off malfunctioning (a thermal fuse for example) except I would expect - though I don't know this for sure - that the 7 segment displays, or other lights, would try to communicate the machine thinks it's in error state?

So any ideas? Or locations of repair guides for Electrolux washing machines (it's a front loader, model EW1265F)

Thanks

Eddie

We had a Simpson brand washer that started misbehaving in odd ways.  Opened up the control panel and found a good number of the solder joints were dry or cracked.  Hit them all with a soldering iron briefly and it was good as gold for a few years after that.
