Temperature Sensor for Nursery

Looking for a temperature sensor to go in our nursery. Ideally I'd love something that can sync with Alexa so we can check the temperature from anywhere in the house.

We have a basic thermometer already in the room so it doesn't need to have a display.

Any ideas?

There’s a Bluetooth One from xiaomi that pbtech sell. About $30. Not sure if you can get it to Alexa, not without something connecting to it.

not sure of any wifi ones. There is diy with a d1 mini and dhl 22 sensor. (Plus power). That’s probably cheaper.

Netatmo air quality monitor, or the weather station has an internal sensor that can do this.

We use a Phillips Avent baby monitor which has a display on the parent unit, as well as a weather station. Their reading differ by about 2-3 degrees.

A Xiaomi Mijia Hub and a Xiaomi temp sensor would probably do the job. Not sure if it works with Alexa. Has the bonus of being able to integrate it with Home Assistant if you ever feel like going down that rabbit hole.

plus 1 these are great they have an alarm as well for when they drop below a set temp

Xiaomi BT bluetooth sensor + Homeassistant + wifi switch turns heater off and on. Once we gave up on the xiaomi switches and got a TP link one with much better wifi we can literally not touch the setup for months.

+1 for the Xiaomi temp sensor, it does humity as well. Only issue is that like others mentioned its Bluetooth only. The Xiaomi Home app has "if/then" style triggers but I've never used them for the temp sensor and Im guessing your phone would need to be connected to the device or it will only work through the hub.

Ive heard there are problems using Xiaomi Mijia Hub outside of Asia - but I cant confirm that as I dont have the hub.

If it works with home assistant (like someone else mentioned) then thats a win!

BTW I have Netatmo as well. Its an amazing system but quite expensive to get started and extend the system.

The hub connects via wifi to the home network and the sensors use zigbee. No Bluetooth in this model. There is a different sensor with a lcd screen that is Bluetooth.

If you have other Hue lights and a bridge then Philips make a motion sensor that has motion, lux & temperature sensor built in.

Oh I see in the video on PB Tech that it can connect via another device (video shows a light that has bluetooth and wifi) - that was news to me!
